• How is this different from a normal "clear PDF metadata" tool?+
  Most tools only clear the basic Info dictionary fields — Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer. This tool also removes the XMP metadata stream (a separate, often richer metadata block many tools miss entirely), PieceInfo (private data left behind by Adobe applications like InDesign or Illustrator), and EXIF data — including GPS coordinates — from any photos embedded inside the PDF.
• Does a PDF really contain GPS location data?+
  Not directly — a PDF itself has no native "location" field. But if a page is a photo (for example, a picture taken on a phone and embedded as-is, rather than a proper flatbed scan), that photo can carry its own EXIF block, and phones with location services on will often save GPS coordinates into that EXIF data. This tool checks every embedded photo for that and reports exactly what it finds before removing it.
• What is the XMP metadata stream?+
  XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) is a separate metadata format Adobe applications embed alongside the classic Info dictionary. It can duplicate or extend the basic fields, and sometimes carries additional custom data — editing history, custom workflow tags — that a basic "clear metadata" tool never touches because it only looks at the Info dictionary.
• What is PieceInfo?+
  PieceInfo is a dictionary some Adobe applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat) use to store private, application-specific data about how the document was produced — sometimes including file paths or workflow details from the machine that created it. It has nothing to do with the document's visible content and is safe to remove.
• Does removing this data actually delete it, or just hide it?+
  It's actually deleted. This tool doesn't just unlink metadata from the document's index — it overwrites the underlying object content before removing the reference, so the bytes aren't recoverable by tools that dump a PDF's raw object table.
• Are my files uploaded anywhere?+
  No. Scanning and scrubbing both happen entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.
