Save ink without ruining light pages

Dark slide backgrounds, colored call-out boxes, and photo-heavy reports all use far more ink than plain text — and a plain "convert to grayscale" option doesn't help, since a gray background block still needs just as much toner to print as a colored one. The Invert PDF tool solves this for pages that are dark everywhere, but flips light areas to black too on a mixed page — worse, not better.

This tool analyzes the page area by area. It samples the local background tone in each region; wherever that tone is dark, it neutralizes it to white and inverts any light-colored text or graphics on top so they stay visible — but regions that are already light are left completely untouched. A slide with a dark title banner and a white body area gets exactly the treatment each part needs.

The optional photo-flattening pass reduces embedded color photos to a handful of high-contrast tone bands instead of smooth gradients, cutting the continuous ink coverage a full photo would otherwise use.

Because the treatment is pixel-based, every page is rebuilt as an image in the output — the trade-off for genuinely reducing ink rather than just changing colors. If you need the text layer preserved instead, compress the PDF won't help with ink, but keeps everything selectable.
