Common questions
Will compressing make my ID or certificate unreadable?
At the "Smallest Size" preset, text and stamps stay clearly legible at normal viewing zoom — which is all a portal reviewer needs. If a document must remain razor-sharp when zoomed in (like a fine-print legal page), try the medium preset first and only drop to smallest if you're still over the limit.
My scan is 10MB. Can it really get under 2MB?
Almost always, yes. Most oversized government PDFs are just high-resolution photo scans. Re-encoding them at portal-appropriate resolution typically cuts 80–90% of the size while keeping the document perfectly readable.
Is it safe to compress my Aadhaar, PAN, or passport this way?
Yes — that's the entire point of doing it locally. The file is processed inside your browser's memory and never uploaded, so your identity documents never touch a third-party server.
The portal rejects my file even under the limit. Why?
Some portals also restrict dimensions or require a specific format (for example, a single page only, or JPG instead of PDF). Check the portal's exact instructions — the size limit is usually just one of several rules.
